Introduction: Muscle strength in both adult men and women is a predictor of morbidity, mortality and metabolic cardio, in addition to being an indicator of impact on the quality of life and emotional functionality of the individual. Objective: To analyze the relationship between muscle strength determined by manual grip and quality of life determined by the Impact of Weight on Quality of Life (IWQOL) instrument. Methodology: The design that was applied was analytical, observational, non-experimental and cross-sectional. Results: Muscle strength shows an inversely proportional connection with BMI; as the BMI increases, decreasing muscle mass (r=-0.511; p=0.001), with a determination coefficient (r2=026), in this way the decrease in muscle strength is given by 26% by the index of body mass. The quality of life determined by the IWQOL instrument and the muscle strength determined by hand grip show a directly proportional connection (r=0.227; p=0.049). Conclusion: There is a positive relationship between muscle strength determined by manual pressure and quality of life, since as muscle strength increases, the quality of life score increases.
