La malnutrición infantil en Cañar y sus determinantes

Introduction: Ecuador has alarming child malnutrition indicators for its level of development, and within the country, there are provinces that exceed the national average, such as the province of Cañar. Objective: To analyze child malnutrition in Cañar composed of chronic malnutrition and overweight, and its determinants. Methods: The study is quantitative, uses data from the 1999-2006-2014 Life Surveys, and makes estimates using regression analysis. Results: Chronic child malnutrition in Cañar is associated with maternal factors and child overweight is related to the order of birth and breastfeeding. Conclusions: Child malnutrition in Cañar has decreased over time, but it is still higher than the national average, while overweight has increased and exceeds the national average, which is very worrying about the situation in the province.
