Introduction: Having available instruments to evaluate the sexual and reproductive health of university students is an objective of the scientific community. Objective: To build and validate a questionnaire to study the sexual education needs of
university students. Methods: A bibliographic review was carried out about the theoretical theoretical fundament relate Health Promotion and Sexual and Reproductive Health, the study variables were operationalized according to the phases of the PRECEDE-PROCEDE model, the first version of the questionnaire was constructed, the content and validity were validated by expert criteria, in addition, it was subjected to a pilot test; the pertinent modifications and adjustments were made and the final version of the questionnaire was developed and applied to two groups of university students. Results: A questionnaire was created to investigate the Sexual and Reproductive Health educational needs, based on the adjustment model in the PRECEDE stage, phase I corresponds to a social diagnosis of sociocultural representations in sexuality; in phase II, a demographic and epidemiological characteristics diagnosis of the Sexual and Reproductive Health problems; Phase III corresponds to a behavior and sexual and reproductive lifestyles diagnosis; in phase IV, allows to perform an educational diagnosis about predisposing, facilitating or favoring factors and reinforcement of sexual behaviors. Conclusions: The adherence to the model in PRECEDE phase allowed a comprehensive approach to the study problem, by carrying out a social, epidemiological, behavioral, lifestyle and educational diagnostic sequence as recommended.
